Résumé : |
Why are we said to be rational? How do we make decisions? Why is it that the way a child behaves when confronted with a simple choice can already tell a lot about the way he thinks, his cognitive abilities and how he is likely to behave in the future? The main difference between mankind and other animals is that we think.Through this paper and available research, I will aim to answer the following question: ‘To what extent do emotional biases and emotions emphasize irrational behaviors in the context of rational decision making, specifically regarding investments and the financial markets? ’ The paper will be divided in 4 parts, the first which will address rationality and go back to both the roots of the topic as well as discussing algorithms, the second will be more focused on the birth and use of behavioral finance, specifically emotional biases, the third a deep dive into the topic of emotions and the last a field analysis where finance professionals are interviewed with the goal to draw recommendations to conclude the paper. |
