Résumé : |
The climate change is one of the hottest topics in the beginning of the XXIst century. Companies and governments are called for actions by young generations, but financial sector is one of the last to be put into the spotlight. The concept of green finance is quite new and the definition of sustainable investments is still in progress. In the late 2010’s the notion of ESG investments was growing and is becoming the norm.
For this research paper, the aim was to have more insights on this new side of the financial markets and understand from the inside, through interviews, the importance and the opportunities that those investments could procure in the European financial markets. This goal was completed by the crisis of the covid-19 that globally impacted all the sectors and countries. As crises are expected to be multiplicated in the coming years through social, economic, political and financial crises, the interest was to understand if the green finance could offer reliability and stability on the financial markets by helping the implementation of the sustainable development with the use of the ESG criteria.
This report is developing the importance of ESG criteria in the future of the European companies and their impacts on the financial markets regarding the resilience, the reliability and the evolution of the ethics and interest of the investors. The purpose of the research paper is to understand the impact and the evolution of the ESG investments through crises such as the covid-19 crisis to forecast the future impacts of those criteria on the future crises.
The result of this work shows the development of the ESG investments and the reasons of this increase. It also shows the opportunities, the challenges and the current issues this sector is encountering. |
