Since middle 2020, container shipping industry faces unprecedented disruption that rewires global competition. In these times the value of correct decision-making and planning is higher than before, because companies are either going bankrupt or face record high profits. To support decision?making and planning, the analytic capabilities of companies as a whole and their departments in particular must be developed. How to develop and transform the data analytics in the container shipping industry? This final dissertation is focused to answer that question and to provide a step-by-step guide backed by academic literature. To give examples of each stage, the analysis of a large synthetic container shipping dataset is provided. In addition, this dissertation demonstrates the use of software and analytic methods that can be put in practice in the industry. The recommendations for a successful data analytics transformation are defined. |
