Résumé : |
In culturally diverse societies, diverse types of business activities are observed in adjacent areas. The aim of this dissertation therefore was to observe and analyse the relationship between social backgrounds, cultural diversity, and the types of businesses one can find in culturally diverse communities. In order to do so it’s important to look at the environment and the reasoning that business owners and entrepreneurs encountered during the early stages of the creation of their businesses. Lebanon was chosen as a case study for this purpose, due to its social diversity and high entrepreneurial potential. In-depth Interviews were done with 10 Lebanese business owners chosen from different genders and backgrounds. An analysis of the answers collected proved that the type of businesses entrepreneurs choose is highly affected by their overall social background. Similarities and differences were recorded in specific cases. This diversity also translates in the variety of business activities existing in different regions and observed across specific clustered activities found in specific regions and absent in others. |
