Champagne is a unique product with an image recognized throughout the world. However, it evolves in the very competitive market of the sparkling wines. One of the most dynamic markets for sparkling wines is the United States. In this market, champagne is not spared from the increased competition from other sparkling wines, particularly prosecco and American sparkling wines. Many writings show the differences between the various sparkling wines. Others explain the American market with great precision, particularly on the differences between generations and their relationship with wine and sparkling wines. A qualitative study of six interviews was conducted to further explore the sparkling wine market in the United States, including the competition of sparkling wines with champagne. This study, as well as the various papers studied, showed that sparkling wines compete strongly with champagne in the United States, but that there are still good opportunities for champagne if they are properly exploited |
