This dissertation paper was written to try to explain what the reactions and answers of the labor market in France during the Covid-19 pandemic were. This subject is important as it can bring a general understanding of what challenges the companies and Human Resources Department had and will have to face in an environment of uncertainty. First, the dissertation focuses on macro-level information regarding the state of French labor market since March 2020 which will concern the general activity rate, the job losses as well as the creation of jobs during the pandemic of Covid-19. Secondly, it focuses on the reactions and trends that have emerged from companies which are mainly related to the employability of workers, the evolution of training, the difficulty to find talents and new ways of working. Additionally, interviews were conducted to collect opinions about the reactions and trends of the labor market within two geographical places in France (Paris area and Reunion Island), with CEOs of companies that have very different market sizes but similar activity sector (tertiary sector). Those opinions helped me address the hypothesis that emerged from the literature review which aimed to answer my two research questions: How did this crisis impact labor market from different regions and industries in France? What were the challenges for employers? |
