Résumé : |
Africa is experiencing increasing difficulties in obtaining wood. Desertification of forest areas and deforestation are commonplace. In the hinterland, wood collection is difficult due to the massive exploitation of forests as raw material by companies. Wood energy stays the principal wellspring of cooking energy in the South. In sub-Saharan Africa, it represents multiple quarters of family energy utilization.Combined with other factors such as extensive agriculture, the exploitation of fuelwood exposes forests to significant degradation and major environmental risks. For this reason, many projects are being developed to diversify household energy sources in order to reduce the pressure on forest resources. However, the substitution of traditional energy sources by other forms of energy is extremely difficult due to the poverty of the affected population. Households that choose to use wood fuel for cooking often do not have access to other energy sources, as they are too expensive or inaccessible |
