Résumé : |
In this paper, we make the following assumption: climate change will significantly affect the banking business in the coming years. Based on this assumption, we investigate the effects of climate change on the financial profitability of the financial institutions, namely banks, and the possibilities offered to the banking industry to manage financial risks incurred by the repercussions of climate change. Our paper allows us to understand the complex issues and relationships between the financial risk management of a banking institution and climate change currently at work, the impacts of which may still be more intense. Our literature expands on the existing research on how banks can financially
manage those risks. Then, we focus our empirical study on three specific themes related to our subject, by formulating for each one a hypothesis that we verify with the help of quantitative and qualitative studies. The answers obtained allow us to confirm or not the validity of the relevant hypotheses, and to highlight certain limitations associated with our assumptions |
