Résumé : |
The last decade has been marked by a rise in environmental concerns among consumers as well as among companies through their corporate social responsibility. As a result, retailers' departments, especially the beauty one, have become greener. The purpose of this seminar paper is to identify how retailers can take advantage of the sustainability to reinvent the beauty department. To answer this question, a literature reviewand a case study about Monoprix have been conducted.Through the literature review, we will see how growing environmental concerns have impacted consumer purchasing behaviour towards cosmetic products. Then we will analysehow retailers and cosmetic brands have taken into account the new needs and expectations of consumers to offer them eco-responsible and affordable cosmetic products. Finally, we will see that the association between retailing and sustainable development has some limits as retailers notably faced accusations of green-washing.In the second part of this seminar paper, we will see how the convenience retailer Monoprix has integrated sustainable development into its strategy, notably through its organic hygiene and beauty private labels. |
