Résumé : |
Studying the figure of the final girl and the gender stereotypes in slasher movies is interestingfor several reasons. First, with a long history dating back to the 1960s, this genre reflects societal attitudes toward gender and sexuality. Horror cinema is well-known to use stereotypes to characterize its characters. Concerning the slasher, it often depicts women as passive, sexually objectified and punished for their immoral behavior. This reinforces harmfulgender stereotypes that contribute to the exclusion and oppression of women in society. |
