Résumé : |
This research paper explores the informal sector in Benin, a sector that remains important and essential in many developing economies.
Initially, through an extensive literature review, the essay highlights the different theoretical approaches to defining and understanding the informal sector, its economic and social importance, and its impact on millions of informal workers. The essay also examines the different perceptions of the informal sector depending on a country's region or level of development. The challenges faced by governments and other players, and the public policies put in place to regulate or integrate it, are also discussed. The study focuses specifically on the case of Benin, assessing the informal sector's contribution to national production and job creation. It examines the implications of the informal sector for the country's economic development and raises the question of the positive impact of economic formalization on workers' well-being. |
