Résumé : |
The maritime transport industry is essential for global trade and commerce, but the impact of its practices on the environment have raised significant concerns. This thesis aims to investigate the question of how sea lanes can be utilized in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner for the transport of goods. At first, the dissertation examines the strategic importance of addressing issues such as air and water pollution, and labor conditions within the industry. Then, we will explore the regulations and standards established by organizations like the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and others. Finally, this research will study the significance of incentives launched by companies to adopt sustainable practices, like L'Oréal's program "L'Oréal for the Future." To gain insight into the practical implementation of sustainable shipping practices, this thesis includes analysis of concrete examples and interviews with industry professionals, such as Amaury Bolvin, co-founder of Zephyr & Borée, and Marion Martorell, CSR director for Kuehne Nagel, providing valuable perspectives and first?hand experiences on topic. Based on these discussions, the thesis focuses on presenting the challenges of maritime transport and exploring potential solutions through innovations and incentives on a global scale. The study argues that to promote sustainability in maritime transport, a multi?faceted approach is required, including both regulatory and voluntary measures, as well as technological innovations. The findings suggest that through such an approach, it is possible to address the challenges of sustainable maritime transport and make progress towards a greener and more equitable future. |
