Résumé : |
Multimodal transport, a system that combines several modes of transport in a singlelogistics chain, has become an essential part of the global economy. By enabling aseamless transfer of goods between rail, road, air and sea, it optimises transporttime, reduces costs and minimises the environmental footprint. In the article"Robustness assessment of multimodal freight transport networks" by Zhidong He,Kumar Navneet, Wirdmer van Dam and Piet Van Mieghem, we learn from theconcrete example of the Netherlands that it can become a powerful lever for nationsseeking to boost their internal and cross-border trade, while meeting theircommitments to sustainable development. The importance of infrastructure and overall strategy for the development of multimodal transport in a country is thereforeundeniable. |
