HISTOIRE ; MATHEMATIQUESMots-clés candidats : Education Science History Mathematics Mathematics Education Philosophy History of Science Index. décimale : E-book Résumé : The advancement of a scientific discipline depends not only on the "big heroes" of a discipline, but also on a community?s ability to reflect on what has been done in the past and what should be done in the future. This volume combines perspectives on both. It celebrates the merits of Michael Otte as one of the most important founding fathers of mathematics education by bringing together all the new and fascinating perspectives, created through his career as a bridge builder in the field of interdisciplinary research and cooperation. The perspectives elaborated here are for the greatest part motivated by the impressing variety of Otte?s thoughts; however, the idea is not to look back, but to find out where the research agenda might lead us in the future. This volume provides new sources of knowledge based on Michael Otte?s fundamental insight that understanding the problems of mathematics education ? how to teach, how to learn, how to communicate, how to do, and how to represent mathematics ? depends on means, mainly philosophical and semiotic, that have to be created first of all, and to be reflected from the perspectives of a multitude of diverse disciplines Nombre d'accès : Illimité En ligne : http://library.ez.neoma-bs.fr/login?url=http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/b105055 Permalink : https://cataloguelibrary.neoma-bs.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=154500

Although modern Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) systems could provide significant support, APS implementation numbers in these industries remain low. Therefore, based on an in-depth analysis of three sample fresh food industries (dairy, fresh and processed meat), the author evaluates what APS systems should offer in order to effectively support production planning and how the leading systems currently handle the most distinguishing characteristic of fresh food industries, the short product shelf life. Starting from the identified weaknesses, customized software solutions for each of the sample industries are proposed that allow to optimize the production of fresh foods with respect to shelf life. The book thereby offers valuable insights not only to researchers but also to software providers of APS systems and professionals from fresh food industries Nombre d'accès : Illimité En ligne : http://library.ez.neoma-bs.fr/login?url=http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/3-7908-1646-9 Permalink : https://cataloguelibrary.neoma-bs.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=154529 Advances in Natural Multimodal Dialogue Systems / Jan C. Robotics) Index. décimale : E-book Résumé : The main topic of this volume is natural multimodal interaction. The book is unique in that it brings together a great many contributions regarding aspects of natural and multimodal interaction written by many of the important actors in the field. It is a timely update of Multimodality in Language and Speech Systems by Björn Granström, David House and Inger Karlsson and, at the same time, it presents a much broader overview of the field. Its 17 chapters provide a broad and detailed impression of where the fairly new field of natural and multimodal interactivity engineering stands today. Topics addressed include talking heads, conversational agents, tutoring systems, multimodal communication, machine learning, architectures for multimodal dialogue systems, systems evaluation, and data annotation Nombre d'accès : Illimité En ligne : http://library.ez.neoma-bs.fr/login?url=http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/1-4020-3933-6 Permalink : https://cataloguelibrary.neoma-bs.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=154502

SOCIOLOGIEIndex. décimale : E-book Résumé : The most significant French sociologist since Durkheim, Pierre Bourdieu's influence on intellectual life shows no sign of abating. He was a prolific and consequential scholar whose impact can be measured by the Social Science Citation Index and international surveys of academics. Conceptualizations, such as habitus and field, his heuristic treatment of cultural, economic, political, social and symbolic capital to analyze the uses of power, and his insistence upon melding the usually separated micro and macro levels of societal theorizing are now embedded in the basic vocabulary of sociology and anthropology. Whether or not in accord with his outlook, serious scholars are obliged to test themselves against his challenges. Bourdieu also played a considerable role as a public intellectual, taking positions on questions vital to France and to the world more generally. Many of his contributions stem from his important research projects: colonialism, educational inequality, the social foundations of taste in the arts and life styles, social reproduction of status relationships, and more recently, the impact of unchecked globalism on the disadvantaged. The articles in this book represent a sampling of the most recent and durable of the ongoing conversations, debates, and research orientations that Bourdieu launched Nombre d'accès : Illimité En ligne : http://library.ez.neoma-bs.fr/login?url=http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/1-4020-2589-0 Permalink : https://cataloguelibrary.neoma-bs.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=154573 Agricultural Biodiversity and Biotechnology in Economic Development / Joseph COOPER / New York, NY : SPRINGER (2005)
