Principles of Economics and Management for Manufacturing Engineering / D. R. KIRAN / ELSEVIER SCIENCE (2022)
Titre : Principles of Economics and Management for Manufacturing Engineering Type de document : e-book Auteurs : D. R. KIRAN Editeur : ELSEVIER SCIENCE Année de publication : 2022 ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 9780323998628 Note générale : copyrighted Langues : Anglais (eng) Résumé : Principles of Economics and Management for Manufacturing Engineering combines key engineering economics principles and applications in one easy to use reference. Engineers, including design, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers are frequently involved in economics-related decisions, whether directly when selecting materials or indirectly when managers make order quantity decisions based on their work. Having a knowledge of the management and economic activities that touch on engineering work is a core part of most foundational engineering qualifications and becomes even more important in industry. Covering a wide range of management and economic topics from the point-of-view of an engineer in industry, this reference provides everything needed to understand the commercial context of engineering work. Covers the full range of basic economic concepts as well as engineering economics topics Includes end of chapter questions and chapter summaries that make this an ideal self-study resource Provides step-by-step instructions for cost accounting for engineers Nombre d'accès : Illimité En ligne : http://library.ez.neoma-bs.fr/login?url=https://www.scholarvox.com/book/88929263 Permalink : https://cataloguelibrary.neoma-bs.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=549869
Titre : The COVID-19 Pandemic Type de document : e-book Auteurs : Klaus ROSE Editeur : ELSEVIER SCIENCE Année de publication : 2022 ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 9780323991490 Note générale : copyrighted Langues : Anglais (eng) Résumé : The COVID-19 Pandemic: A Global High-Tech Challenge at the Interface of Science, Politics, and Illusions discusses COVID-19 as the first pandemic in the Internet era and our current reality of continuous reports, news, and updates. Since its beginning, we were daily bombarded with news of what was happening around the world. There was no global political leadership. The United States was politically partially paralyzed. Russia and China hoped to gain diplomatic profile worldwide, but their vaccines are of limited efficacy, and trust in their clinical data is rightly low. The European Union did not order enough vaccines in time, but sued a large manufacturer for delivery delays. Now it is setting up yet another bureaucratic institution. At least the pharmaceutical or life science industry paved the way out, but is not enthusiastically praised for it. It would be too easy and superficial to blame mistakes of governments and leaders on stupidity. Idiocy exists, but we have to go deeper to understand how illusions and blind spots in today’s common perception and science, inertia, arrogance, conflicts of interest, competition of individuals, and states and institutions for public recognition have contributed to a multitude of flawed assessments and direct mistakes. Healthcare professionals and anyone interested in an in-depth understanding of humankind’s response to the COVID-19 challenge will not get around the key conclusions of this book. Outlines key elements of modern civilization, public health, and drug and vaccine development on the background of the COVID-19 pandemic. Discusses the historical roots of separate drug approval of vaccines and drugs in administratively classified "children" (of whom many are bodily mature long before their 16th or 18th birthday), and why the belated approval of vaccines against COVID-19 in minors is not based on science, but on blurs and conflicts of interest. Outlines key elements we need to address to become better prepared for future global health challenges. In the first place, we do not need new institutions, but to overcome intellectual barriers and blind spots. Titre : The Digital Supply Chain Type de document : e-book Auteurs : Bart L. MACCARTHY Editeur : ELSEVIER SCIENCE Année de publication : 2022 ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 9780323916141 Note générale : copyrighted Langues : Anglais (eng) Résumé : The Digital Supply Chain is a thorough investigation of the underpinning technologies, systems, platforms and models that enable the design, management, and control of digitally connected supply chains. The book examines the origin, emergence and building blocks of the Digital Supply Chain, showing how and where the virtual and physical supply chain worlds interact. It reviews the enabling technologies that underpin digitally controlled supply chains and examines how the discipline of supply chain management is affected by enhanced digital connectivity, discussing purchasing and procurement, supply chain traceability, performance management, and supply chain cyber security. The book provides a rich set of cases on current digital practices and challenges across a range of industrial and business sectors including the retail, textiles and clothing, the automotive industry, food, shipping and international logistics, and SMEs. It concludes with research frontiers, discussing network science for supply chain analysis, challenges in Blockchain applications and in digital supply chain surveillance, as well as the need to re-conceptualize supply chain strategies for digitally transformed supply chains. Titre : Web-Scale Discovery Services : Principles, Applications, Discovery Tools and Development Hypotheses Type de document : e-book Auteurs : Roberto RAIELI Editeur : ELSEVIER SCIENCE Année de publication : 2022 ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 9780323902984 Note générale : copyrighted Langues : Anglais (eng) Résumé : Web-Scale Discovery Services: Principles, Applications, Discovery Tools and Development Hypotheses summarizes and presents the state-of-the-art in WSDS. The title promotes a middle-way between finding the best tool for each particular need and the search for the most reliable systems. The title identifies basic theoretical problems and offers practical solutions for librarians. The volume offers a summary of ideas from around the world, giving a new perspective that is backed up by strong theory. Offering a vision for libraries, this book also allows archivists, museum specialists, computer scientists, commercial operators and interested users to deepen their culture and information literacy. The great number of information sources now available and the changing habits of web users has led to the development of Web Scale Discovery Services (WSDS). The goal of these systems and techniques is to make catalogues, databases, institutional repositories, Open Access archives and other databases searchable and discoverable through a single point of access. The diffusion of systems and connections between data disseminated by libraries and published by other institutions poses a challenge to understanding discovery in the modern library. Lays out the state-of-the-art in WSDS for contemporary libraries and institutions Presents an innovative take on information retrieval and digital document management Grounds thinking on a bibliographic basis, combining academic, practical and commercial aspects Offers a perspective on how WSDS and discovery tools are seen and used internationally Provides a version of culture and information literacy of relevance to a broad-range of cultural specialists Nombre d'accès : Illimité En ligne : http://library.ez.neoma-bs.fr/login?url=https://www.scholarvox.com/book/88930393 Permalink : https://cataloguelibrary.neoma-bs.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=553377
