RESPONSABILITE SOCIALE DE L'ENTREPRISERésumé : As a relatively young subject matter, corporate social responsibility has unsurprisingly developed and evolved in numerous ways since the first edition of this textbook was published. Retaining the features which made the first edition a top selling text in the field, the new edition continues to be the only textbook available which provides a ready-made, enhanced course pack for CSR classes. Authoritative editor introductions provide accessible entry points to the subjects covered - an approach which is particularly suited to advanced undergraduate and postgraduate teaching that emphasises a research-led approach. New case studies are integrated throughout the text to enable students to think and analyze the subject from every angle. The entire textbook reflects the global nature of CSR as a discipline and further pedagogical features include chapter learning outcomes; study questions; 'challenges for practice' boxes and additional 'further reading' features at the end of each chapter. ART ; INDUSTRIE CULTURELLE SECTEURRésumé : This new volume in the series of Handbooks in International Art Business published in association with Sotheby's Institute of Art offers a timely guide to corporate collecting, examining the history, nature and importance of corporate collecting and the different reasons for starting and maintaining corporate collections, including investment, cultural caché, and asset diversification. Why do institutions take the plunge into an asset class that is usually very far from their core businesses? The authors categorise modern corporate art collections into four broad categories. First, there is the traditional corporate collection, where works are purchased directly from galleries or artists to enhance the office environments. Many of the collections that fall into this category - largely banks or financial-service organisations - have some of the best-quality works of any corporately held collection. The second category includes those collections that seek to say something about the company's corporate identity: these collections have become very involved with how the company would like to project itself. The third category is philanthropic collections: those that structure their collection strategy around a charitable remit. And finally the all-rounders: those companies whose work with the arts permeates their identity, office environment, social outreach and sponsorship.Based on interviews with the curators, consultants and investors who run such collections, and more extended case studies of important collections worldwide, the book concludes with an examination of when corporate collecting becomes a liability and the market-impact of deaccessioning, looking ahead to the future of corporate collecting. HISTOIRE ; MONDIALISATIONRésumé : The Routledge International Handbook of Globalization Studies offers students clear and informed chapters on the history of globalization and key theories that have considered the causes and consequences of the globalization process. There are substantive sections looking at demographic, economic, technological, social and cultural changes in globalization. The handbook examines many negative aspects - new wars, slavery, illegal migration, pollution and inequality - but concludes with an examination of responses to these problems through human rights organizations, international labour law and the growth of cosmopolitanism. There is a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches with essays covering sociology, demography, economics, politics, anthropology and history. The Handbook, written in a clear and direct style, will appeal to a wide audience. The extensive references and sources will direct students to areas of further study. DEVELOPPEMENT DURABLE ; TOURISME ; TOURISME SECTEURRésumé : It is widely recognized that travel and tourism can have a high environmental impact and make a major contribution to climate change. It is therefore vital that ways to reduce these impacts are developed and implemented. 'Slow travel' provides such a concept, drawing on ideas from the 'slow food' movement with a concern for locality, ecology and quality of life. The aim of this book is to define slow travel and to discuss how some underlining values are likely to pervade new forms of sustainable development. It also aims to provide insights into the travel experience; these are explored in several chapters which bring new knowledge about sustainable transport tourism from across the world. In order to do this the book explores the concept of slow travel and sets out its core ingredients, comparing it with related frameworks such as low-carbon tourism and sustainable tourism development. The authors explain slow travel as holiday travel where air and car transport is rejected in favour of more environmentally benign forms of overland transport, which generally take much longer and become incorporated as part of the holiday experience. The book critically examines the key trends in tourism transport and recent climate change debates, setting out the main issues facing tourism planners. It reviews the potential for new consumption patterns, as well as current business models that facilitate hyper-mobility. This provides a cutting edge critique of the 'upstream' drivers to unsustainable tourism. Finally, the authors illustrate their approach through a series of case studies from around the world, featuring travel by train, bus, cycling and walking. Examples are drawn from Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas. Cases include the Eurostar train (as an alternative to air travel), walking in the Appalachian Trail (US), the Euro-Velo network of long-distance cycling routes, canoe tours on the Gudena River in Denmark, sea kayaking in British Columbia (Canada) and the Oz Bus Europe to Australia. Titre : Who's Afraid of Conceptual Art? Type de document : e-book Auteurs : Peter GOLDIE ; Elisabeth SCHELLEKENS Editeur : TAYLOR & FRANCIS GROUP Année de publication : 2009 Importance : 161 p. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-203-86604-7 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Management
ARTRésumé : What is conceptual art? Is it really a kind of art in its own right? Is it clever - or too clever? Of all the different art forms it is perhaps conceptual art which at once fascinates and infuriates the most. In this much-needed book Peter Goldie and Elisabeth Schellekens demystify conceptual art using the sharp tools of philosophy. They explain how conceptual art is driven by ideas rather than the manipulation of paint and physical materials; how it challenges the very basis of what we can know about art, as well as our received ideas of beauty; and why conceptual art requires us to rethink concepts fundamental to art and aesthetics, such as artistic interpretation and appreciation. Including helpful illustrations of the work of celebrated conceptual artists from Marcel Duchamp, Joseph Kosuth and Piero Manzoni to Dan Perjovschi and Martin Creed, Who's Afraid of Conceptual Art? is a superb starting point for anyone intrigued but perplexed by conceptual art - and by art in general. It will be particularly helpful to students of philosophy, art and visual studies seeking an introduction not only to conceptual art but fundamental topics in art and aesthetics.
